Essay-Ivaneti in San Paulo

 Have you ever thought seriously about other person living in other country? Well, I'm going to write similarities and differences about the woman name Ivaneti who live in San Paulo, Brazil. I have gained about many informations about her from the website called HIGHRISE. I think I have several similarities and differences at the same time. Isn't it interesting that we are same and similar at same time even though we live in other places. Since I think many people is interested, I will compare and contrast me and Ivaneti's surroundings and environment.

 First of all, I want to talk about Ivaneti and me. She lives in a highrise in San Paluo, Brazil. She was thrown out along with 97 other families.When she was young, she used to cut crops, she worked on sugar cane, peanut, cotton, and orange farms, and she once had time that without home. In those time, she had many hardships, however, she soon realized that it is not only 'my' problem but 'our' problem and she started to cooperate with people. Also, she say that she is influenced by her mother a lot. She's working as co-ordinator at downtown homless movement.
 I'm 13-years-old(in Korean age) girl who live in Seoul, Korea. I have 4 family members, father, mother, elder brother and me.

 Secondly, I want to tell about the environment at San Paulo, Brazil and Seoul, Korea. In this place, there are many squats and unused buildings. Since the squats had not good environment, only the people who without other alternatives came and lived. In those squats they didn't had elevator and the people had to walk up about 22 floors. Also, many unfortunate accidents has happened, too.
 Seoul is capital of Korea and it is big metropolis. We have many highrises and tall buildings which are used for living, working, and enjoying culture. However, still some parts aren't developed and many construction companies are trying to build buildings at there.

 Finally, I will compare and contrast her life and my life. Before contrasting and saying differences between two of us, I will compare similarities. I think I am influenced from my mother a lot like her. Also, I thought even though San Paulo is recognized as one of the big city in Brazil, there are still many undeveloped places as well as Seoul, Korea. However, in Seoul, I think high buildings without elevators do not exist. Moreover, while she has job like co-ordinator, I'm student. Also, she consider and cooperate with other people a lot that she forgave the opportunity of having her own house. I think I wouldn't lost my chance to have my own residence.

 To sum up, I thought me and ivaneti have both similarities and differences and I learned that cooperating with each other will help a lot from her and her neighbours. In my point of view, I thought it was very good experience to think carefully about me and who live almost the opposite side of where I live.

Writing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Narratives

1st narrative
I started my day by listening songs in glps. Then, I wash my face and brush teeth and change my clothes. This is one of the hardest part in my day, because it is really hard to move my body in morning. Next, I go 12th floor to get breakfast. I decided to eat proper meal which is including rice and side dishes.
After the breakfast and I go to class. I really like history research and finishing my presentatin because I feel self-contentment. Then I eat lunch and go to afternoon classes. In fact, since I have finished my lunch and I became kind of tired, I became sleepy. However, I suffered all class and I could eat dinner and studied for 2 hours. I decided to not go optional self-studying, because I was so tired.

2nd narrative
You wake up by listening to the music in glps. It is really hard to wake up. However, you think you have to eat breakfast to concentrate on work that day. After the brief preparation, you go to cafeteria and decided to eat rice because there is side dishes which are delicious. Then, your classes start. You had quite satisfying time because you have get good comments from people after presentation. After eating lunch, you goes to afternoon classes. You join in positive mind even though you are tired.When writing a diary, you think it was quite satisfying day.

3rd narrative
She ignored the first morning music and keep sleeping. However, since the second music which is noisy came out she had to woke up. After, washing her face, she goes to cafeteria to eat rice and side dishes for breakfast instead of cereal or toast. She got better score on history presentation and felt good and decide to do harder next time. After eating lunch, she chattered with her friends and rested for a while. She has done her afternoon class successfully and ate dinner. She called her parents to tell her presentation score got increased. Then, she had Hon Jung time and go to bed.

Dear Hope

Hello, my hope. I am so happy and relieving because of you.These days, I am having hope about being better students and being happy. These hopes make me to do my work more hard. I want to express my appreciation to you.

You are a flash light in a dark lonely street.
I can see you in a sadness and hardships.
If I have problems or any hardships, I can solve or finish because of you.
You are a dream that which is not limited.
I can feel hope whenever I have dream.
I can dream you as big as I want.
You are a flower that come into bloom in a spring.
Don't worry because you would make me disappointed.
I would recover the sadness and replace with another hope just like blooming flower.
You are a love that do not die.
If I dream of you I can help and cooperate with someone who I want.
It will make many people happy the rest of their life.

My history presentation about Abraham Lincoln

Hello, everyone! Today, I'm going to have a presentation about Abraham Lincoln. I chose this topic because while I was thinking about research which is related to American history, I decided to research and make presentation about Abraham Lincoln, one of the best presidents in U.S History.

Now, I want to talk about the life of Lincoln.

He was born in February 12, 1809 as a son of poor farmer in a one-room log-cabin on the sinking spring farm in Hardin County, Kenturky.

His father couldn't wrote words except for signing. However, his mother read him bible and tried to help him a lot. Even though his mother was dead when Lincoln was 9, the step mother also helped him a lot. Also, his father was good at telling and remembering stories.

Even though he couldn't get enough education, he had a big amount of knowledges which he had gained from books.

When he became young man, he did a shop assistant, boatman, and etc. After that in 1833, by the self-studying in legislation, he could get lawyer certificate. After this incident, he entered in politic as elected member of Illinois state. Also in 1846, he was elected as member of the House of Representatives. In 1858, he became election candidate competing with experienced member, Duglas. Even though Duglas won, Lincoln entered Republicans and became president in March 1861. However, it was not good news to people who were in south of America and they the Civil War was triggered. And in 1863, he signed Emancipation Proclamation and he elected once more in 1864 and assassinated by southern actor in 1865.

Now, I will tell you about Slavery in that time. slavery in the united States began soon after the english colonists first settled in North america. From about the 1640s until 1865, people of African descent were legally enslaved within the boundaries of the present U.S. mostly by whites, but also by a comparatively tiny number of American Indians and free blacks. By 1860, the slave population in the U.S. had grown to 4 million. Also, they were treated immorally.

Next, I am going to tell about Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation is an executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War under his war powers. It proclaimed the freedom of 3.1 million of the nation's 4 million slaves, and immediately freed 50,000 of them, with the rest freed as Union armies advanced. On September 22, 1862, Lincoln announced that he would issue a formal emancipation of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. The actual order was signed and issued January 1, 1863; it named the locations under Confederate control where it would apply. Lincoln issued the Executive Order by his authority as "Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy" under Article II, section 2 of the United States Constitution.

Lincoln was really good preseident who has worked and considered his nation's people.

◎Definition of medieval art and renaissance art

Medieval art: the art created in the period of Euroupean history between the end of the Roman empire in 476 AD and about 1500AD.

Renaissance art: the art created in period in Europe, especially Italy, in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries, when there was a new interest in art, literature, science, and learning.

Medieval art

other characteristics: since in that time The church of the middle ages was a guide who leads the populace to be a center of the world at heaven. Also, church was not only the center of daily life, but also the center of art. So, there was art and pictures about Christian phenomenom.

Renaissance art

place: starting in Florence, Italy→many part of europe

ideology: "The cultural advancement which the human center is secular.''

other characteristics: renaissance art was escaping from the restraint which is religious the human being in the existence which is individual recognition

◎Difference between medieval art and renaissance art

Medieval art: Mostly religious; very focused on creating symbols of Christian concepts/values; not concerned with realism. Served a purpose: "Before a worshipper has even entered the church, he would find images of saints and sinners, of angelic beings and the punishment of the damned. All stood as a reminder of the importance of holding one's thoughts to God." Statues were shallow and flat. Bodies might be out of proportion.

Renaissance art: Very focused on realism--on portraying things as they look. Used linear perspective in painting. Not as focused on religion. Often used to show the beauty in nature (including human beings). Often depicted everyday life. Used light and shadow.
